The average cost of the majority of our piercings will be in the range of $45-$60. The listed price of our piercings will include standard titanium jewelry, however we have a large variety of jewelry upgrades available to you.

At Body Jewel we have no problem performing piercings on minors with consent of a parent or legal guardian.  However, the members of our piercing staff have set up age restrictions on particular piercings based on their comfort level.  It is best to find out the acceptable age for your desired piercing ahead of time.

In order to perform a piercing on a minor certain things must be in place.  We must have the parent or legal guardian in the store, with a photo ID, to fill out the appropriate paperwork.  We also need to establish a definite relationship between the person signing for the piercing and the minor receiving it.  This can be done by presenting a state issued or school ID showing matching last names and / or matching address, a birth certificate, or something to that extent.

When considering getting your child’s ear pierced we appreciate you considering the safety and benefits of using a sterilized, single use needle over alternative methods.  Our piercing staff will be more than happy to accommodate your children just as well as any other customer.

There are some things you should remember when bringing your child in for an ear piercing.

The members of our piercing staff will not perform a piercing on anyone who is unable to verbally express their desire to receive a piercing.  We must be able to carry on a conversation with your child to make sure that it is their choice to get the piercing and we can explain simple aftercare instructions to them.  A child who is overly nervous or unprepared can be unsafe to work with.  We will not be able to do a piercing on anyone who would need to be held or restrained in any way, as that would make for a more stressful environment on your child, as well as our piercers.

We suggest that you, as parents, refrain from talking to your children about how much or how little the piercing will hurt.  Constantly insisting that their piercing will not hurt can often be more traumatic and cause more hesitation than simply reminding them how nice the outcome will be.

Before coming in to get your piercing, there are a few things to remember.

Please have your photo ID present as it is against state law to perform a piercing on anyone without proper identification.  If you are under the age of 18, please reference the “Piercing Minors” section on this page.

It is suggested to eat a substantial meal no later than 3 hours before receiving your piercing.  This helps to maintain blood sugar levels during the experience.

Avoid the use of alcohol and recreational drugs before coming in for your piercing.  We want to make sure that each of our customers are of a sound mind when deciding to get their piercing.

Most importantly, remain calm.  We understand that getting a new piercing is an intimidating experience, however if you are overly anxious about the experience, it will be much more traumatic than necessary.  Just remind yourself the outcome of your piercing will be well worth the momentary discomfort from the piercing process.

The majority of piercings are performed with threadless Titanium 6AI-4V-ELI ASTM-F136. We also use niobium and 14kt gold. Note, Titanium and niobium items can be anodized in many different colors.

At Body Jewel, we keep the well being of our customers at the highest regard. All piercings are performed with a precision sharpened, sterile, single use needle which is immediately disposed of. All non-disposable tools are scrubbed, ran through an ultrasonic cleanser, then autoclaved. Our piercing jewelry is put through the same sterilization process.
We use an aseptic technique during the set up of all piercings. This means that while prepping for your piercing we pay special attention to avoid cross contamination by using clean disposable gloves, and changing them frequently throughout the process.

Anodizing is a process where a coating is built up on the surface of certain metals (titanium, niobium, tantalum, aluminum, magnesium and zinc) by heating, with chemicals, or by electricity. In the case of titanium, the coating that is built up is a layer of titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide, which is also known as titanium oxide, occurs naturally on the surface of titanium. Anodizing does not involve any dyes. The color on the surface is apparent because light reflects through the created oxide layer to create a color. Without the presence of light that color wouldn’t be there. Light reflects off of the surface of titanium. When a piece is high polished and not anodized, it reflects its mirror finish. When a piece is anodized, the light has to reflect [refract] off of the surface through the added oxide layer.

• Anodizing gets the matter off the surface and cleans down to one millionth of an inch, over a thousand times more cleaner than with an ultrasonic.

All of our piercing jewelry and reusable tools are put through an effective sterilization process including ultrasonic and autoclave machines.

An ultrasonic machine is used to remove microscopic debris from our tools and jewelry by the use of high frequency sound waves (around 18kHz). We have separate ultrasonic machines for our contaminated tools and for our new jewelry.

Autoclaves use a combination of steam and pressure to effectively kill all bacteria that may be present on the items within. Every Body Jewel location is equipped with a large autoclave for bulk tool and jewelry sterilization, as well as a Statim autoclave for our customizable jewelry.  Our autoclaves are regularly maintained by our staff and specialists. We also perform spore testing on all of our autoclaves once a week to ensure that all of our equipment is functioning properly. These tests are monitored by an independent lab.
